2020 Golf Outing and Evening Event Update
First and foremost, we would like to thank you for your continued interest and support over the years. We hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. After a lengthy discussion with our board members, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Make A Change Foundation Golf Outing and Evening Event. Although we are thrilled to see the tri-state area heading in the right direction regarding the re-opening of businesses while adhering to safety guidelines, several factors played into our decision. Without knowing what restrictions will remain in place for large gatherings in July, we have been unable to move forward with several important steps in the planning process.
In addition, many of our incredible event sponsors, whose generosity is the reason we are able to host this event year-in and year-out, are small businesses in our community. They have endured so much hardship over the past few months due to the pandemic. In good conscience, we cannot justify asking those businesses to open their pockets while the economic aftermath of COVID-19 has left many of them fighting to keep their doors open.
We are saddened that we are unable to raise money and awareness for CABVI and Cancer Family Care in our usual fun-filled way. However, we will be having an online fundraising campaign to show continued support to these wonderful organizations. If you’re able, please consider making a donation using the link below. As usual, all proceeds will be split 50/50 between CABVI and Cancer Family Care.
Finally, the Make A Foundation board want you to know how much we’ll miss seeing you this year. We promise we’ll be back once we all get through this together. Thank you for being so supportive of the Make A Change Foundation for 10+ years. Please enjoy a look back at some of our favorite moments from years past.

"Return of the MAC"
Saturday July 31, 2021
There are currently no scheduled events.
Ten years ago, I had a very casual conversation about golf outings with a few co-workers. It was mentioned that companies often held their outings on weekdays. For many participants, this meant using an always valuable vacation day. An idea was hatched to host our very own golf outing, and hold it on a Saturday. Ultimately, this idea was the seed planted that has grown into the Make A Change (MAC) Foundation.
That first year, we had under two months to plan the outing with no prior experience in hosting a golf outing. While planning, the decision to raise money for a local charity was made. We managed to gather 12 foursomes made up of family and friends, and raffled off one lonely gift basket. Good times were had by all participants, and we knew it was something we wanted to continue. Rather than being tied to one specific charity, we decided to raise money for a variety of local charities and organizations.
In June 2010, my brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Amy McFarland, were blessed with the birth of their daughter Adelle. Soon after her birth, Adelle was diagnosed with optic-nerve hypoplasia, which results in underdevelopment of the optic nerve and significant visual impairment. Jeff and Amy learned quickly that Adelle would benefit greatly from the incredible services provided by the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI). Anyone who has been fortunate enough to witness Adelle’s incredible achievements over the past few years can attest to CABVI’s effective and life changing services. Although the MAC Foundation continues to raise money for a variety of local charities, a strong bond with CABVI has been formed and they remain a major beneficiary of several events.
Last year’s Givin’ & Groovin’ event was our most successful to date. We had a beautiful day of golf, a great night with music from the Nick Netherton Band and Marlana Van Hoose, and raised over $10,000 for some great organizations. This year’s event is shaping up to be our best yet. We’ve got another great day of golf at Aston Oaks, the Nick Netherton Band is back on-hand for some top-notch entertainment, and another guest appearance by Marlana Van Hoose. Most importantly, we’re ready to raise money and awareness for a great cause! Please join us this year, and help us Make A Change!
